The visa process for the United States varies for each consulate or embassy. We recommend working with your local embassy or consulate to ensure you are following the correct process for your country. Please begin the visa process as early as possible to ensure your timely entry.
Step 1: Secure your accommodation for the duration of your training and competition as this will be asked in the application process.
- To book your accommodation go to http://groups.reservetravel.com/group.aspx?id=21346
- For specific accommodation questions and guidance please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 2: Visa Waiver Program
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries* to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without first obtaining a visa, when they meet all requirements. Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel. If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) visa.
*For a list of participating countries and more information on ESTA, follow this link: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit/visa-waiver-program.html
Step 3: For countries not part of the Visa Waiver Program(WVP)
We advise the following for applying for visitor B visa (which for most countries, covers athletes, teams and support staff coming to the US for a competition-again, please inquire with your local embassy or consulate.
