FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS — "NEED TO KNOWS"

VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN TENT LOCATION

To the left of the general admission tent, before you enter the event venue. The volunteer hospitality tent is located behind the finish tower.

 

EARLY SHIRT PICK-UP

Pick up your shirt and parking pass early on the following dates and times and please park in the drop-off loop. (A parking pass is also attached to this email).
Wednesday, July 17: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Saturday, July 20: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

 

SHIFT ARRIVAL

Please arrive 20-30 minutes before your first shift.

 

PARKING

Will be located in the North Lot by Dillard’s. Parking is free for volunteers who have a parking pass, and a shuttle will be provided. Shuttle buses from the North Lot will be running daily and coincide with volunteer shifts July 21 - July 28. If you volunteer prior to July 21, you may park in the drop off loop.

 

VOLUNTEER SHUTTLE

For July 21, 22, 23

A shuttle will be offered on the following days:

* Any shifts late in the day on July 24-28 will be accommodated via golf cart transportation to get you back to your car.

 

STAKE BOAT HOLDERS

You do not have to check-in for your shift at the volunteer tent. Instead, pick up your shirt early and park over at the start side prior to your shift. We will confirm your attendance via radio and check you in for your shift. (NOTE: Volunteers for stake boat shifts must wear the "ocean blue" volunteer shirt only.)

 

ATTIRE

In addition to your event volunteer shirt, wear comfortable pants/shorts and closed toe shoes (sneakers are suggested). Hats are also recommended, as is a disposable poncho in case of rain.

 

SUN PROTECTION & HYDRATION

We suggest putting on sunblock before arriving, but we will also have it in the check-in tent for your use. Drinking water is very important, especially in the Florida sun. Please be sure to stay hydrated! Snacks and drinks will be available all day in the hospitality tent as well as breakfast and lunch for all volunteers on the days of their shifts.

 

WEATHER WATCH AND SAFETY

In case of inclement weather, volunteers will need to seek shelter in following areas: the athlete dining tent, registration and volunteer check-in tent, ergometer tent/athlete rest tents, or inside the finish tower (not on the ground floor). If we are on a delay or cancellation, an email will be sent out immediately. If you’re coming from far away for your shift, please be sure to check your email before leaving.

 

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT

We are still in need of volunteers, especially for stake boat holders, launch and recovery crew members, Russian translators, doping control, and more! Please spread the word to friends and family to come out and join us for a fun-filled week at the park! If you’re unable to make your scheduled shift, please remove yourself from the Sign-Up Genius registration page so we can keep an accurate count on volunteers needed.
